Kirkvoldøy Salmon beat.

This beat is on Singsås in Gauldalen, from Støren to Kirkvoldøy is about 30 km. From Røros to Kirkvoldøy is about 74 km. The beat is 420 meters long and is recommended for 4 fishermen. The beat is rented out as a weekly rental with accommodation on the farm, located 20 meters from the river's edge.

The beat is a very exciting area of Gauldalen, the tough river is arguing with the salmon on its journey up the river valley. In this area of the valley the river is pretty steep in several places, making the salmon stop and rest in several of the pools in this area. Willmansøyen pool adjacent to Kirkvoldøy, in between those beats, the river is quite rough so the salmon will always stop for a rest when it comes up on the tail of Kirkvoldøy. Then it swims into the mainstream of the beat that goes along a river embankments on the lower part of the beat. In this mainstream there are several salmon locations, so that there are many places to search through with your gear. Salmon often rests on this beat, and the lower tail is a good spawning area, so there are several reasons why it stops a lot of salmon here. On the upper part of the beat is another exciting neck, and in the classic manner, it is a tough current range salmon must overcome before it comes up to the upper tail - so this is a very exciting areato fishin at. Kirkvoldøy is a beat that are fishing well at different water levels. At the small river you will always have nice currents that salmon are more than happy to stop in, and this is a very important quality for salmon fishing, there is no river too small. From the great river to the normal high water, you will be able to fish well on the lower part of the beat. If the river is going really big it is not fishable here, due to high speed flow in this area.

Kirkvoldøy is far up in the Gauldalen, so it's a long journey for the salmon from the sea and up here, also the Gaulfossen could sometimes prevent salmon migration periods. So the first 2 weeks of the season is not so good up here. But already from the week 25, you can experience exciting days in this area and this time it's just big salmon coming. From week 26 onwards the fishing season will increase and become very good normally. The most interessting weeks on the silvery and large early salmon up here is at the week 26.27, 28 But thru all the season comes new and shiny fish, many believe that the August fishing is just fishing on the old colored salmon, but it is not the truth. You will of course get those, too, but the truth is that it comes up new and bright salmon throughout August and actually long after the season is closed in the river. I think August fishing in Gaula is very exciting, and I fish a lot in the period myself.
